Employment & Language Readiness Consultation

Who this is for

This consultation is designed for an international professional who has a target occupation, vacancy or active job search in Germany but is unsure where language ends and job-market expectations begin. It is especially useful before sending applications, returning to work after a move, or changing from an international team to a German-speaking workplace.

What we do together

Before the appointment, you send one current CV and either a vacancy, a short description of your target role, or a workplace situation. During the session we examine the language demands of that role, your existing German, and the moments where confidence tends to break down.

We work through a realistic self-introduction, likely employer questions, useful clarification phrases and the vocabulary needed to describe your responsibilities. You receive direct correction without interrupting every sentence. The final part turns the findings into a four-week preparation plan.

• A short pre-session review of your CV and target role
• A 90-minute private consultation with an employment-language adviser
• Guided practice using situations from your occupation
• Written notes with priority vocabulary, corrected phrases and next actions
• One follow-up question by email within seven days

Not included

This is not legal advice, official recognition of a foreign qualification, certified translation, recruitment representation or a general German course. If your question belongs with the Agentur für Arbeit, Ausländerbehörde, a recognition authority or an employment lawyer, we will say so clearly.

Your adviser

The session is led by Mara Feld, a Hamburg-based employment-language consultant with adult education experience and a focus on communication between international professionals and German employers. Her role is to connect language practice to a real hiring or workplace context—not to promise a placement.

Before the session

Send your documents at least two business days ahead. You may remove your address, photograph and other personal details. Bring specific questions and be prepared to speak for part of the appointment. Sessions are held in English and practical German; the balance depends on your level.

Afterward

Your written plan arrives within two business days. It identifies the conversations to practise, language patterns to strengthen and external steps that may be needed. From there, you can work independently or book a focused follow-up such as interview rehearsal.
